North Central Electric Cooperative Energy Services Advisor Andrew Finton helped Sycamore’s Mohawk Local Schools upgrade their lighting to more efficient LED technology. Lighting upgrades to the main building, MCI building, and Field House allowed Mohawk to reduce its lighting wattage by more than 45,000 watts.
The cooperative and school district took advantage of a statewide rebate program available through Buckeye Power, NCE’s wholesale power supplier. Up to $15,000 per facility in rebates is available to commercial and industrial members who upgrade their lighting.
“Energy efficiency upgrades like this will help the school district reduce lighting cost and maintenance, as well as help the cooperative reduce its peak demand load,” said NCE General Manager Markus Bryant. “We consider it a win-win for the cooperative and the school district. The fact that we’re able to reduce the replacement costs through a lighting rebate from Buckeye Power makes this an affordable project.”
