North Central Electric's load management programs help optimize energy use and reduce costs during peak times, thanks to the installation of radio-controlled switches (RCS) that are installed on electric water heaters, air conditioning units, and geothermal systems. These switches help manage electric demand and support reliable service during peak times of high electric use. When our power supplier, Buckeye Power, is notified that demand for electricity is reaching extreme highs, a peak alert is issued and a signal is sent to installed switches.
Many of our rebate programs require the installation of an RCS, and you can find out more information about these specific programs on our Rebate Programs page.
What do the lights mean on my load control switch?
A solid green or flashing amber/yellow light indicates the normal operation of the unit with no load control present. Load control is active when the red light is on. When load control is active, the unit remains on, but its power is cycled to run less often than a typical day.
