Seneca County Health District gets People Fund grant for CPR instruction
The North Central Electric
People Fund Board granted
$1,607 to the Seneca County
General Health District for
CPR mannequins, materials
and a DVD.
The SCGHD is a public
health agency serving all of
Seneca County. Some of the
services it offers are immunizations,
teen clinic, Bureau
of Children Medical Handicap,
water testing by the environmental
health division, radon
gas testing and bike helmets.
It currently has one health
care provider who is certified
to provide new and refresher
CPR courses for SCGHD staff.
However, mannequins and
manuals have had to be borrowed
from the Fremont
Memorial Hospital to accomplish
this. Because materials
weren’t readily available,
requests for training from the
general public have had to be
denied.
With further funding and
training of additional health
care providers, the agency
soon may be able to offer CPR
instruction to the general
public.
Another grant award in the
amount of $2,000 went to the
Tiffin-Seneca Childcare Center
for play curbs, base material
and mulch for the playground.
St. Mary’s preschool and
elementary school in Tiffin
received two grants totaling
$1,700 toward the purchase
of a classroom computer and
a bench for the playground.
To date, the People Fund
has issued 207 grants totaling
more than $382,500.
This has been possible
because of the generous
donations by 80 percent of
North Central Electric’s members
voluntarily rounding up
their electric bill each month
to the next whole dollar in
the Operation RoundUp program.
