Trustees Re-elected at North Central EC Annual Meeting

North Central Electric Cooperative has joined a statewide initiative in conjunction with Buckeye Power (the wholesale power supplier to North Central and 23 other Ohio electric cooperatives) to distribute 400,000 CFLs by June 30. CFLs use about 75 percent less energy than standard incandescent bulbs and last up to 10 times longer. To date, the cooperative has replaced approximately 7,400 incandescent lights.

The Cooperative will provide 19-watt CFLs, which is equivalent to 75-watt incandescent light bulbs. Replacing three, 75-watt incandescent lights with 19-watt CFLs will save $16 or more per year in energy costs and $168 over the expected 10-year lifetime of the CFLs. Indoor lighting represents about 12 percent of the average monthly bill.

The exchange program is only open to North Central Electric members. Members must bring a North Central Electric bill as proof of membership. If members have already exchanged their lights, they are currently not eligible to receive CFLs a second time.

Lights also can be exchanged 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at North Central Electric’s office, 13978 Co. Rd. 56, Attica.
